Spring 2009
Dear Friends in Christ,
"...stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong." These words from Corinthians had a specific meaning in Paul's time, but, as with so many lessons from the Bible, can be applied in these difficult economic times.
I think that many of us, even though we are mindful of our blessings, may be having a tough time dealing with the realities of the financial crisis facing the United States. With every television news report or newspaper headline, we are constantly bombarded with the depressing news - and it is nearly impossible to escape it.
Yet, in the midst of this financial turmoil, we are humbled to find ourselves surrounded by the generosity of others. During 2008, over $78 million was made available to the mission and ministries of the Church through the gifts and endowment funds managed by the Presbyterian Foundation. This is a testament to the trust placed in us by our donors, churches, and other related organizations to manage and distribute their gifts according to their wishes.
We feel confident that during the coming year, the spirit and faith of Presbyterians will drive continued giving to answer the need expressed locally and throughout the world. We remain committed to our mission to cultivate and manage gifts for Christ's mission.
Peace of Christ,
Bob Leech
